Improving Our Waters CWI Grant

Jennings and Ripley Counties received a Clean Water Indiana Grant to help improve water quality within our counties. This program offers cost-share for cover crops, forage & biomass plantings, and heavy use are protection. These practices will reduce the loss of nutrients, aggregates, herbicides, pesticides, manure, and nitrogen from runoff of cropland, pastures, and animal feeding operations into our groundwater.

The Improving Our Waters voluntary cost-share program is intended to provide landowners with financial and technical assistance to install conservation practices, also known as Best Management Practices (BMPs) within Jennings County and Ripley County.

The cost-share program will pay up to 70% of the eligible cost with a $5,000 cap per participant. Reimbursement will follow the installation and approval of the practices that landowners install. BMPs are required to meet Natural Resources Conservation Service design specifications and/or seed rate calculations.

Contact our office if you are interested in applying for this grant. Funding is available now through December 31, 2027, or until it runs out, whichever comes first!
