Fall Tree Sale Now Going On

If you are working to GO GREEN like so many others, the Jennings County Soil & Water Conservation District along with the Jennings County 4-H program has a wonderful opportunity for you to do just that. The fifth semiannual Tree Sale is going on now and this time there are 14 species of trees and/or shrubs to choose from. The species included are 4 types of oak trees; Swamp White,  English,  Red and Bur Oak. Also available are Autumn Blaze maple, Red Sunset maple,  River Birch, Baldcypress,  Redbud, and Pagoda Dogwood.  For a shrub plant we have the Nannyberry Viburnum and Common Ninebark.   For evergreens, we have White Pine and Norway Spurce.

The trees are grown right here in Indiana using the Root Force System which means they virtually begin growing as soon as they are planted.  They are easy to plant, have high survival rates, and give quick results.

Trees are a great investment in your property for many years to come.  If you are not sure you need any trees/shrubs for your own property why not consider purchasing one or two as gifts to friends, neighbors, church, or your community.  What a wonderful way to celebrate new life or to remember someone who has passed on.

The sale ends on October 8th and trees will be available to be picked up at the Soil and Water Conservation District office a few days later.  All prices are $20 - $30 each for a 3 – 5 gallon container tree/shrub with heights of each species varying.  We also have the maples and river birch in larger containers with 8 ft. trees for $110.

Proceeds from the sale will benefit the Jennings County 4-H program and the Jennings County SWCD activities. For more information or to pick up a brochure please visit the SWCD at 2600 N. State Hwy 7, North Vernon or call 812-346-3411 ext 3, Monday through Friday 8am to 4pm, or the Jennings County Extension Office at 200 E. Brown Street (Government Center), Vernon or call 812-352-3033.
